Our client, a furniture manufacturer based in Europe, mandated us to establish its dependent subsidiary (so-called branch) in the free zone Dubai Design District. Our responsibilities not only included the handling of correspondence with the competent free zone authority but also the preparation of legal documentation, such as drafting the resolution calling for the establishment of the branch and powers of attorney as well as coordinating the issuance of notarised and legalised true copies of the mother company's extract of commercial register and memorandum and articles of association. The branch now represents its mother company in the UAE, markets its products and ensures closer customer proximity in the entire region.
