Our client's objective was to terminate the contractual relationship with a commercial agent based in the UAE in an amicable way. We first determined that there were no entries in the UAE's Commercial Agency Register and, hence, the agent-friendly provisions of the UAE Commercial Agency Law did not apply. In close cooperation with the client's lawyers based in Germany, we then revised a termination agreement in order to bring it in line with UAE laws. The counterparty accepted and signed the agreement without raising any significant objections.
