New rules for shared housing in Dubai

The new law protects the rights of owners and residents by ensuring safe and healthy living conditions. In particular, it aims at preventing overcrowding and informal living. Existing shared housing operators must comply with the new regulations within one year of them taking effect. Any person who violates the law may be punished with fines between AED 500 and AED 500,000. In the event of repeated violations within one year, the fine will be doubled to a maximum of AED 1 million.
