Dubai International Airport celebrates 65th anniversary

When DXB opened in 1960, it featured a simple sand runway and a single terminal building. The airport's growth was accelerated by the launch of the airline Emirates in 1985. Today, the airport serves more than 270 destinations across six continents, handling one of the largest volumes of international passengers worldwide. In the third quarter of 2025, DXB announced its highest-ever quarterly traffic, welcoming 24.2 million guests between July and September.
